Where would someone buy a solid cleaning rod that's around 40" long that's a 17 cal? I need to clean my Rem 700 sps varmint in 17 fireball. It has a 26" barrel. I'm currently using a bore snake.

Tipton make one, as do dewey and I have a pro-shot takedown, (steel rod 5 pieces) see them all over, P&D, prophet river, and I have seen them in wholesale sports, and likely many other places, have a ring round the sports stores closest to you,
And don't try ramming out a stuck fireball case, with a tipton, as that's how I broke mine. must get another, 5 piece are a pain, keep unscrewing sections.

I have a tiny dowel for ramming out cases. I've never needed it before (knock on wood). I looked at all my stores and can't find any. I want a stainless one if at all posaible

The five piece pro shot I have is stainless, got it at magnum sports in Lloyd, they had one piece as well.

Using a jointed uncoated steel rod should only happen when you're in dire circumstances, say in the field when you fall and get mud in the bore. Otherwise they are to be avoided at all cost.

Dewey are the best. Buy once, cry once.

^ Yep! I bought a Tipton .17 rod, it's 36". Expensive but it works great and is one piece. I don't think I'd even put one of those steel screw-together rods through my barrel in the field. Maybe a twig to push the grime out? Probably better for your rifle!

I agree, but that is what I needed, to remove a stuck case in my .17 fireball, after I tried with a Tipton one piece and broke it,
go big, did say he wanted a stainless one too,
