The same reason it is popular with the sillywett crowd, is the reason I figure it to be a good pick for my next build.
Plan is to plant a .40 barrel onto a Rolling block action, and chamber it in 40-65.
There is lots of load info, molds, and components available, as well as there being few or no likelihoods that some yob down the road, will try to fit something WAY to hot into it to shoot.
If it can whack a steel ram, at 500 with authority, it'll work just fine, for anything I want to point it at.
Overkill for deer, I figure it will work just fine as a moose and coyote gun.
Holy Toledo. At 500 yards? You guys must be super shots. I wait for deer and plug them at usually under 250. I will much more range time I spose
