Good Day Fellows,

I am looking for some opinions on my supplies for my next batch of .40 S&W.

I have 1000 rounds once fired (by me) Winchester brass, Winchester SP primers, and 175grain hard cast lead bullets from The Bullet Barn.

My question to you fine folks is, what powder have You had good luck with in .40 with similar components to what I have listed. And who is a fair retailer for your suggested powder.

I was going to buy some Unique but someone said that it generated a fair amount of smoke?

Specific Info: I have the Lyman reloading manual, if the powder you suggest isn't tested in my manual, perhaps you could help me with Min and Max load chart info so I don't blow my face off. My brass was factory ammo that I fired through my Glock 22. The gun I am reloading for is my HK USP .40

Cheers! And all the best.
Jeff

1. Titegroup.
2. Higginsons.

I agree whole heartedly with Titegroup as the choice for 40SW and Higginsons, assuming you reside in the part of the country east of Manitoba. Having said that, I would caution you on the use of cast bullets thru a polygonal barrel(I believe USP is such, as is the Glock). Some freak out and jump up and down saying No Way  and others will caution you of the accelerated lead deposits. Just do a little more research if that is the case. The hardness of the bullet has a lot to do with it but you may see performance issues with cast/plated through polygonal barrels (tumbling, keyholing etc) . It will result in more frequent cleaning or simply using a jacketed bullet through the pipe every so often, but I am sure others will offer their opinions without hesitation. Good luck.
Cheers

Out of my P16-40 I use 8.9 gr. of Blue Dot with 180 gr. jackets. It's a nice snappy load and gets tight, tight groups at 10-12 m.
