40 grain Noslers in 204?

anyone tried shooting 40 grain Noslers in there 204 ruger? How was the accuracy and the splat factor on gophers?

I found the 40 gr Nosler BT excellent in both my CZ 527 and Rem 700. No gophers around here, but accuracy was great.

well seeing as how only CV32 has tried the noslers in his 204 I picked up a box and will load up a few and see how they shoot.

I also have shot the 40 Noslers in a heavy barrel NEF, I recall IMR 4895 being a really good load, work up accordingly.

Well I picked up a box and did some load developement got a few good groups at 100 yards the best 5 shot group measured 3/4". I got that with 27.5 gr of H4895 with the bullet seated .080 off the lands. I found that in my rifle they didn't like to be seated anywares near the lands. Next time out I will play a little more with seating depth and a couple of 10ths more or less of powder. I will post my results after I get a chance to go to the range.

I finally made it back to the range yesterday for some more testing. I tried differant seating depths and played a little with the powder charge . The best I could get the noslers to shoot was 3/4" at 100yrds. I might pick up a box of Burgers and give them a try while I am waiting for the 39gr. Sierra BKs I ordered to come in. The Sierra BKs will consistantly give me under 3/8" groups with 27.5gr of H4895 and the bullet seated .090 off the lands.
