What are the major differences between the 9 and 40 Hi-Powers? I know ones 40 and ones 9 but is the 40 built stronger to handle the pressure? Can the 40 be easily changed to a 9mm? Are most parts(grips, holsters) interchangeable?

Slide is different, bit heavier with very heavy recoil spring installed (may be a bit hard to rack the slide), frame is pretty much the same like 9mm version and cast.
I believe that changing 40 into 9 will involve some serious gunsmith work to allow 9mm rounds feeds reliably, plus a lot of people say that balance of 40 isn't exactly as nice as 9mm version.

Compared to the 9mm version, the .40s have the following differences:

-Heavier slide with a stepped portion to clear the dust cover tab on the slide stop
-Heavier recoil spring
-Barrel has three insted of two locking lugs
-Different slide stop dust cover shape

I can't say for sure whether complete top ends can be switched between 9mm and .40 frames.

Bar-Sto makes a 9mm conversion barrel for the .40 Hi Powers, but I'm not sure if it would be possible to get one up here. A .40 Hi Power converted to 9mm is supposedly the hot ticket for durability.

Some molded holsters for the 9mm might not fit the .40 version.

Yes, you can convert a H-Power in .40S&W to 9mm, but I doubt it is cheap, so you might just as well buy one of each, or stick to the classic 9mm for your Hi-Power and get .40S&W in a different pistol for variety's sake.

I've heard that a 9mm Hi-Power frame won't fit the .40S&W parts.

It has also been reported by some members here that the magazine of a .40S&W Hi-Power will hold more (can't remember how many more) than ten rounds of 9mm and will fit and function correctly in a 9mm Hi-Power. Possession of the .40@&W magazines isn't prohibited because they are ten-round magazines legal for the gun for which they are made and their use in a 9mm with more than ten rounds isn't illegal because the law isn't worded in a way that would make it illegal. I've never tried it because an extra couple rounds before changing magazines isn't important to me in a gun I will only use for target shooting on a range.

Here's my BHP MkIII's.... top in 9mm, bottom in .40 S&W for comparison:
