hey all i was wondering if h335 is usable as a 40 smith powder i have tons of it for my .223 i cant find any load data for it
does anyone have any input or load data for this powder?
my local gunshop says its fine but im skeptical
thank you all for any replies
 
Not a great idea using H335

With a 155gr bullet and a 100% fill load of 11gr H335, your muzzle velocity would theoretically be 570 fps with a maximum chamber pressure of ~7,400 psi. Also, only a 15% propellant burn...

In short, your bullet might not make it out of the barrel - tell your "gun store guy" that he should make the switch to a Hairdressing career...
 
Not a good powder. Try one round, if you like. I bet the bullet would be stuck in the barrel.

There are lots of good pistol powders for 40. What do you shoot? jacketed, Plated? Lead?

At what? Paper Steel?

What velocity? Medium? High? Max?

Tell us this and we can suggest a good powder.

For medium power up to maximum I suggest Power Pistol and Universal. Both meter very well.

For medium power I suggest 231, TiteGroup, HS6
 
You have lots of free reloading information on line and what is in reloading manuals to prove your buddies wrong.

Next time check and double check reloading manuals before believing bad "buddy" advice.

I shoot more .40 lite loads with plated bullets for practice than anything else, it saves wear and tear on my Glock and my brass.

NOTE, the Speer #14 reloading manual has 165 grain Law Inforcement loads, that are the start loads for AA No.7, TightGroup, 231, Bullseye.
(upper range .40 lite loads at approximately 1000 fps)
