.404 Jeffery for Angry Squirrels.... Will it Work?

Oh crap! Now we have acrobatic Ninja squirrels (all black of course) and they can do the Matrix thing with bullets. Would buckshot help or am I toast? Of course the Vancouver cops are no use with those puny little toy pistols. Besides they all run away when I mention we got squirrels. Ate a postie last week and I think they got the Rottwieler 3 doors down too-been kinda quiet the last few days. Maybe if I just stay in the house.... I think the 223 just pissed them off, never even slowed them down.Getting low on ammo.Help me......

Have you ever looked a squirrel in the eye just before a charge? We came around the bend in the trail and it was just sitting there munching on some grass. It slowly turned it's head to face us, still munching. The look it gave me sent shivers through the very core of my body. It had one thing on it's mind; death. In one fluid movement it turned at us and started a full out charge. All I remember was alot of dust and screaming. I saw things in slow motion, it was horrific. All I had was a .22 rifle with me, so I did what anyone in my situation would have done, I shot my friend in the knee cap. His sacrifice saved my life so I could tell this tale here today. Be careful out there. They come from the tree's. They come from the tree's.

The 404 is a very poor choice in a double because of it's rimless design.
I only use and recommend rimmed cases in best made British side locks. Chopper lump construction is an absolute must.

If you have your heart set on hunting game and are to poor to afford a "correct" rifle I would recommend a boxlock of German make with mono block construction. They are very affordable, even for a man of your limited means and start in the $7000 range. However, I would never trust my life to one.

Clearly you know nothing and I know everything. I obviously have much more money than you.

So far you win.

We have the same killer squirrels in B.C. An old prospector I know said he uses 100% silver cast bullets (215gr.) lubricated with prep "H" in a .303 Epps Said it knocks the sh!t right out of them. Have you asked the Alberta Light Infantry? Rumor has it that they are using converted Velo-dogs.

A .577 T-Rex 800 gr solid dipped in butter flying at him will do the trick. The butter is for the deep marinating and basting required for such a tough and feisty monster. There is just no way to get the marinade through that tough hide unless it is injected with the meplat of a T-Rex bullet. Good luck on your safari, and just in case, do up your will, and tell your family you love them before setting off.

I am of the opinion that hunting big game like the mighty squirrel is perhaps a little too ambitious. I suggest starting with chipmunks and working your way up from there.

we don't have many of the dreaded tree dwelling greys here in southern alta but have boatloads of their deadly burrowing cousin the richardson variant the locals call gophers. I recently made a purchase of the latest gopher killing cartridge the 17hmr which the salesman at the local WSS assured me would dispatch them with authority. It almost cost me my life as the first one I encountered took multiple hits and kept on charging, only the fact that I was able to get the window closed on my 4x4 long enough to get out my 44mag SW (I was on my way home from the range) and put a couple of 200gr hollowpoints in his face at point blank range saved my bacon.
So yes take the 404 and have backup and you might be OK:eek:
