405grain bullet for 45-70?

I am having the hardest time finding these bullets. Everywhere I check they don't carry Remington or any 405 grain bullets. At the moment I ordered Hornady 350grain FP and will just reload those for now, but I would like to get some 405 grain bullets but I do not know where to order them from, any ideas?

I've shot several thousand of these and, while they're great bullets, there are alternatives. The first one that comes to mind is the Speer 400 gr and I have in fact seen these around. I'd check Epps as they seem to have a pretty good selection of bullets on the shelf whenever I'm there...
 
Remington isn't listing any .45-70 ammo in their Core-Lokt or their Core-Lokt Ultrabonded brands. .45-70 is only listed under their Remington Rifle brand.
They don't list a .458" bullet as a component either.
 
Thanks!. I looked a few of those up. Epp's has the 400 grain speer bullets in stock for 32.99 for 50. I checked out the cast ones at bullet barn and I like that price a lot more, but I am not sure which bullet I would need, they have two 405gr ones, slg and tlg. I need to get more reloading data for a 405gr cast lead. Right now I only have the hornady handbook of reloading, lee manual, and hodgdon data manual that came with my press. Ideally I would like just 1 powder that I use for the 350gr hornady and the 405gr cast, which looks like it would be H4895 or H4198, only problem is the lee manual has no info on a 350gr at all, and also doesn't provide any data on either of those 2 powders under the 405gr lead bullet section on page 690. I also don't have enough data on a 400gr jacketed, only whats written in the lee manual.
 
We don't know what rifle action you are using.
If we assume your modern rifle is at least a Marlin lever action:
50.0 grains of IMR 3031 often groups around one inch at 100 yards from my mauser with a 1:16 twist rate and Remington 405 jacketed SP. Should give you about 1600 fps.
Ignore this if you are using a Trapdoor action.
 
Order the 420 grain gas check from Bullet barn. They will also send you the loading data for them.They work great and you can push them.
 
Awesome, thanks for all the info again. Now I know where to get the bullets I want ideally. Will place an order pretty soon hereonce I have figured out how to properly seat my bullets so they don't bulge on one side I should be set, getting a bullet puller so i can redo my dummy rounds. I have 2 boxes of 350gr FN hornady and will also be reloading all my leverevolution with 325gr FTX so I ended up getting IMR4198, as I can also use it for 123gr 7.62x39 then too, that's 3 birds with 1 stone. That leaves me with getting a separate powder for the 405 grain lead stuff I guess.

So I just got a box of 200 of the 405gr TLG from Bullet barn, really pleased with the fast service and excellent price!
Now which powder am I best off using with these ? I am noticing that IMR 3031 has a higher velocity, is that what I would want? Currently I only have IMR 4198 and the starting load is 29gr / 1160fps and the max is 33gr / 1370fps.

My lee reloading manual has a powder called A-XMR-2495 and its starting load for a 405gr lead bullet is 48gr / 1585fps, that is for the model 95 lever action section.
Now under the "all guns in good condition" section it lists a H-Varget with starting load of 40gr / 1419fps.
Is it safe to use the "405gr lead bullet" load data for the bullet barn bullets I have or should i strictly stick to the sheet I got with them?
Will the IMR 4198 I currently have be effective with this bullet at its max load of 1370fps, or do I want a different powder to push it at a higher velocity? My rifle is for predator protection primarily, but I plan to hunt with it as well, just want to ensure that I am loading it up to where one bullet would stop a bear in its tracks if it charges at me (a scenario I plan to avoid first off In any case), my rifle is an 1895gs.
