408 chey,,,,,,, wow

For LR shooting, the bullet should have the highest FUNCTIONAL BC possible.

By that, it must be able to handle the stresses of actual shooting.

There are many instances of VLD and super heavy for cal bullets that simply couldn't be made to shoot accurately and were dismal failures. Berger, Tubbs, Lost River, hornady (more a tip thing but....), Sierra and so on.

ABC is taking a more realistic approach to what they can make, fly accurately and with low drag. Their numbers are certainly realistic and having fired their bullets, seem to be working.

Would be a dream to have a 408 bullet (any cal under 50 cal do that) approaching 1.0BC. So far, no one has figured out how to do that well.

Actually the 375CT looks like a real screamer! Likely a barrel burner as well.

As per above posts, the guys from Accurate Bullet Co let us shoot the gun with "realistic" loads, not the BS powder packed, one shot with the brass numbers Cheytac is telling you.

Still, the caliber is incredible.

I have fielded a few PM's so thought I would say again,

The 408CT that I shot with ABC bullet and loads fit squarely between the 338 and BMG as far as wind resistance/ballistics/costs go.

It is NOT some magic formula with physics defying results. Will there be improvements? Of course, LIKE ANY OTHER CALIBRE.

As for barrel life, no idea but would expect the same as most standard magnums. The case is not particular large for the given cal and bullet weight.

Yes, if I had the bucks and wanted an exotic boomer, I would choose this over the BMG. Personally, I haven't even finished my 338 due in large part to operating costs.

Now that my small cals are reaching way out, I have even less incentive to try.

If interested, chat with the boys at ABC. They strike me as down to earth shooters who want to offer a functional product. That's good enough for me.

PS, if speed is what you want, the 338-408CT improved called the Snip-Tech will push a 300gr MK at 3300 to 3400fps out of 30" barrel. There is another simlar version in recent shooting mag articles that are close on its heels.
