408 Cheytac replica of TAC 50

[alberta tactical rifle]

Originally built, with support from McMillan, for a movie about Rob Furlong's world record shot,
This detailed replica is as close as you are going to get to the rifle actually fielded by the Canadian Forces snipers but in a cartridge that is easier and less expensive to feed than the 50 BMG. Unfortunately this rifle was never used for the movie production as we could not get if finished in time for the production.
The rifle is built on a Stiller TAC408 action, Rock Creek barrel and Mcmillan TAC 50 takedown stock.

it has ugly butt-stock. "AR" style, but in AR it's a function feature, so there is a reason why it is designed that way. The use of tube on heavy calibers is quite questionable.

quite questionable? How would you design a VERY strong, lightweight detachable stock? A cylinder makes sense to me.

Of course. Would you want a benchrest tight chamber on something to shoot in the mud with ball ammo?

I doubt that this ATR rifle will have a loose chamber.

It would seem that Mr. Furlong did ok with said garbage, so it can not be THAT much of a failure

Carbonrod. You are correct this rifle has a match chamber as it was not built for military use, but for extreme long range precision.

Edmonton Police Tactical Unit has a TAC 50 and use Sniper Elite ammunition. It works fine for them.
