40mm Objectives vs. 50mm-56mm Objectives?

Sounds funny, but I was actually able to see better through the scope than with my naked eye.

It would be funny if you could see better with your naked eyes.

For me it was a matter of losing a moose that prompted me (couldn't tell if it was a bull or not) to go to a bigger lens.

After passing up two shots( both with a vari XIII 3.5x10x40) because I could not be sure of the body position,I went to a better scope instead of a significantly larger scope.I went with the 3x10x42 Swarovski which to my eyes,is every bit as bright as the Leupold VXIII 3.5x10x50.
