.40S&W Carbine load data

Hi,

I could not find any 40S&W load data for 40 S&W for carbines. Speer has a clear warning about using 147gr bullets in 9mmP reloads in carbines, especially when combined with small volumes of fast burning powders.

I have loaded for both 9mmP and 40S&W for more than 15 years, and still load for both, but have always used slower powder. So for the 40 S&W I believe your best option in a carbine would be a slower powder such as Blue Dot. I use it for both my 40 S&W Glock Pistols (Mod 27 with 108mm BarSto barrel and Glock 35 with 5.3" factory barel) and get higher velocities but with "below maximum" published powder charges. I also use Blue Dot behind a 200gr bullet in both my G35 and the 10mm Auto G20 (with standard 4.6" and 6" barrel) and it gives great results= good performance and not a maximum load needed. Yes it shows a clear muzzle flash on an indoor range, but from your carbine this would be greatly reduced.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the info. I just started loading with 6.6 of Unique.
Ill look into how unique compares to blue dot for burn speed. It was also suggested that i try longshot or power pistol.
