40X vrs X-mark pro vrs after market triggers

I am looking at buying my first tactical style long range rifle. I have narrowed my search to a couple remington rifles and have found most of the answers to my questions throughout the forums. Thanks to all who have helped me by helping others, but there are a few questions I would like to explore a little further.

My first questions are all about getting opinions, I have read the factory hype and comments, but I would like to hear from guys who have used the real thing.

My questions are:

1) How does the 40X trigger compare to the X-mark pro trigger?

2) Is the 40X trigger worth the extra money?

3) Should I buy a rifle for it's other features and go to an aftermarket trigger?

When answering these questions please assume that money is not an issue.

What triggers have you experienced and like ?
Have you tried a 2-stage trigger?

A properly adjusted 40X or 700(prior to x-mark) are better than the x-mark !

After market triggers - Jewell , Rifle Basix, Timney are all excellent. depending on how light you want the adjustability.
If you have experience with 2-stage, a match 2-stage not a military type, the CG trigger is excellent.

If the $$$ is not a consideration go with an after market trigger. It will spoil you to anything else !
 
Good point I should have added more information on myself.

I have never had a custom trigger on any of my rifles, but have used rifles with them at my club. I have had my factory triggers tuned but never to be excissivly light.

I want to be able to use this rifle for hunting and therefor will never adjust the trigger below what is safe for this purpose.

I am looking to see what guys think of the quality and reliability of these triggers more than anything else.

Not to sound too much like a noob here, but is swapping a trigger out something that needs to be done by a gun smith or is it something someone with decent mechanical ability could do with some instruction?
 
A gunsmith is not required if you have mechanical skills. Rem triggers are retained with 2 cross pins. Prove the FA, remove the bolt and stock from the action and the pins are accessible.
Quality and reliability of all the triggers mentioned is very good. Not all are equally simple to adjust. Adhere to the instructions and you'll have no worries.
 
Jewel has the HVR model that includes 3 springs for changing trigger pull weight from a few ounces to several pounds.

You can change out the springs for bench work or hunting.
 
My 700 has the X-mark, and it feels like a brick. If I adjust lighter, it feels like a lighter brick. My buddy's 700 has the same and it feel much cleaner.

My Rifle Basix should be here any day. Damn, I forgot to check the mail today, be right back..........
