41 Mag vs. 44 Mag

It's not. It's just different. Nor is ammo or components easy to find. Not enough demand. The .41 mag didn't have Dirty Harry doing the advertising either.
.44 Mag ammo and components are far easier to come by and you can load to .44 Spec velocities. That doesn't make it better, just more convenient.
 
Shooting the 41 Mag, Mid range loads, is a joy like shooting 44 Specials. The full loads will get your attention in a hurry. I like all three rounds (41 Mag, 44 Special, and 44 Mag) but I shoot more 44 specials and 41 Mag Mid range loads than full 44 Mag loads. Regards, Richard :D
 
I own both as well and the 41 is deffinately not more powerfull. Put the two cartriges side by side and it is a no brainer from there. I myself have never had any problems finding loading components for the 41. Not as common as 44, but not that uncommon either.

My 41 is a Bisley model SBH. By far one of my favorite shooters :)

Having said that, the .41 is just as funtional, accurate, etc.
I figure with my .38SP/.357 and 44SP/44Mag there's no point for me
(personally!) to 'split hairs' with a .41!;)
 
With a .41 Mag who needs a .357 or a .44? Sorry Frank, couldn't resist!

If you can only afford one handgun the .41 will do anything the .38/357 can do and about 85% of what a .44 Magnum will do. The 15% that it can't do isn't much fun for more than a cylinder or two anyway.......

That said what you really need is a .41 Magnum and a .45 Colt!
 
How true , but if you get into cost of shooting , wear and tear on the gun, one can argue many angles, the 41 is not unlike the 10 mm , an odd ball.
Now if you had chambered the .357 Maximum in a light carbine, there may be one , but I don't know of it. What a rifle that would have been eh ! :D
Bottom line, all for making more money on a new toy. :)
 
when I was getting a revolver I thought about a .41, but glad I got a .44 instead; ammo/ reloading components are way more common. Plus it's a .44mag :D

I like your way of thinking davey! I own a 357, a 44 & 45 Colt already so I guess I just need a 41......:cool:

I have heard hardcore 41 Magnum guys claim that the 41 is more powerful than the 44 and I just can't see it:confused: . Thought I may be missing something.

The Winchester factory loadings aren't even as powerful as their 10mm loads....

I own all of the ones I listed, and still love shooting the .41 the best :)

I'm working on getting one in a Ruger Redhawk. The same guy has a S&W model 57 but won't part with it. He said he's not married to the Ruger though......:dancingbanana:
 
I know, before you say it, that I damned near have one of everything:D I put more rounds through my 44 Mag pistols only because I also shoot 44 Specials in them. Of the 357 Mag, 41 Mag, and the 44 Mag I honestly prefer the 41 Mag. Why? It is a kinder/gentler round and shooting it is more akin to shooting the 44 Special. I have said my piece and I will now leave the topic to others. Regards, Richard :D
 
I have had both and still have a 41 in a redhawk. I have this habit of shooting stiff loads in guns, and prefer the 41. No reason why I couldn't have loaded down the 44 I suppose, but I won't part with my 41.
