.41 special ANTIQUE ???

[Pre-1898]

Can anyone tell me if a .41 special caliber revolver qualify as ANTIQUE if made pre 1898 ? Is it the same as 41 long colt ?

If it's made before 1898 (and you can prove it!) and it is chambered for a caliber that is NOT on the list provided by the CFC (see the sticky at the top of the forum, link to antique regs), then it is a prescribed antique.

41 Special was an experimental ctg developed by Colt c1932 and never commercially made. Date would make it modern and the gun itself very scarce since only one New Service and one Official Police were made in 41 Special.

Thats Right !
Taffin did some write ups on the 41 Special which was just a 41 Magnum case Shortened.
the 41 Special case is bigger in Dia than the 41 Long Colt.

Its a very intresting Round that never got the attention it should have.
