.410 ammunition.

i have HEARD that the 45-70 is really close to a 410, but i dont know if you want to try it, as i said i only HEARD about it. DO NOT QOUTE ME AS RIGHT OR WRONG. thank you
 
The Indian smoothbored SMLEs used a round based on a .303 case, which had not been tapered or necked. Loaded with a round ball, not shot. Not uncommon for these to be rechambered to accept standard .410.
 
The Ishapore converted rifles were chambered as .410. They used the 303 brass and fireformed the brass to fit the chamber. No other shot shells(store bought)can be used in these converted models. I have an enfield that was reworked to accept the 2 1/2 " .410 shot shell.
 
There was a lee enfield in the EE that took .410 British. Didn't take standard 410shells, just the special british ones. What's the difference?
