I was wondering from those of you that have used the 410 12" barrel shotti how it is. I already have an older 410 from them, but like the look of this little guy. If used for grouse what have you used and what is the effective range, or would this not be a good gun for hunting upland birds with. The other reason I like this is no getting dirty on the quad ride into the bush without taking it apart. Any anwsers or opinions welcome as I am thinking of purchasing this firearm. Thanks.

Methinks it would make a nice little Grouse gun. One would need to practice abit. Effective Range? As far as you could normaly throw rock while wearing a heavy winter coat, and mittens. :D

More experienced hunters prob' have better input then I do.

I have a Herrington & Richards Tamer in a 410 its a nice little back packer, used it already and its great for partridge or small game at nomore than 20 yards.

Thanks for the replies. Money is short but I am going to try to find the H&R Tamer to see what this offers. More than likely I will still get it as I have had one of their long barreled 410 for about 15 years without problems. I will still keep my options open.

I have one, haven't done any Grouse hunting yet tho'. Just been trying varying sizes and types of shells, including slugs to see what patterns best.
Great to pack around on the ATV.

Exactly Iron Glove. I want something I can put in any quad storage bag or tote I have loaded on my bike, so no mud or foreign objects can get in the barrel craeting an unsafe condition to fire. Also does this little guy break down like its longer brother? Thanks again.

I don't think it breaks down other than the usual remove the one screw and off comes the barrel and chamber ? I'll have to check next time I'm at the cabin. It's so short I've never even thought about taking it apart !
It fits easily into the rear box on my ATV or I carry it in a TacStar shotgun case strapped to the front rack.
I'm gonna use it for my "Bear Defence" gun (just kidding !!).
I have the IGA 20 guage also and both seem like a good quality product for the price.

I use mine all the time for grouse, I've shot over 24 of them so far.
It easily transportable on the handle bars of my dirt bike.
The range is about 20 yards. enough for these stupid but delicious birds . I can effectivley walk up to about 15 ft and use the 410 back packer and take a head shot to save the meat.
