im sure this has been done to death... but please skip the "THIS HAS BEEN DONE TO DEATH, DO A SEARCH!!! DONT MAKE ME TYPE THIS AGAIN!!!", and either help me out or move on. thanks.

if i get in to reloading .410's (by hand), what sort of per round cost could i get it down to? im willing to use skimpy amount of powder, skimpy amount of shot, paper wad, etc... doesnt have to be powerful or do any damage... just lookin to have some fun for cheap.

also... same question for 12g.

thanks!

I don't have my spreadsheets with me but I believe I had a box of .410 shells down to around $5.50. For a box of 12ga it's more than factory target load; I think around $10/box. I can get factory target load for $7.50/box so there is no point reloading regular target load unless you have a super cheap or free source for lead shot. That is all based on buying shot for $50/25lbs.

Forget this im willing to use skimpy amount of powder, skimpy amount of shot, paper wad, etc... doesnt have to be powerful or do any damage...

Do it right per published data with quality components and you will still get the 410 to around 5.00 a box
12ga if target loads buy factory flats
Cheers

I reload .410 for about 10-13 cents each, depending where I can get my components from.

Man oh man that is cheap
Please share I am 15 cents tax in with no powder and that is buying from hummason and using only the cheap cheddite primers and CB wads
Lead 6.25 cents primer 3.8 cents hulls based on 6 reloads 2.5 cents CB wads 2,2 cents
Plus 296 powder

I save a ton by reloading my own 410, they are definitely worth reloading. I would say I've got them down to 15 cents a round. I even bought a little role crimper from ballistic products and make my own 000 buckshot rounds.

I don't count the cost of the hulls, although I do cycle a few new boxes into the mix every year or two. Some people save the hulls for me if they are the Winchester 3 inch hulls. I can get as many as 15 or better loads through a hull. Some of them blow out earlier at ten loads. I have my components at prices a few years ago and still have a hundred pounds of lead shot sitting around. Lots of components have greatly increased in the last 2 or 3 years.

Ok that makes sense. I also am sitting on a ton of 20 year old components so if I use those prices yes I can do 10 cents a round also. In my prime I was doing about 5000 410 a year however and buying 8 pounders of powder and min 5000 of wads and primers per year to get the best pricing
The prices I quoted are as of yesterday so I would say a new reloader would be hard pressed to do it for less than 20 cents a round now
Have to check powder for the hell of it. With AA hulls running 15 cents each now when you can find them one has to pretty much factor them today
Take care

Ok all they have is 1 pounders right now so it adds another 6 cents to the round

So we are talking 20-21 cents tax in and that is no shipping if I was starting today still better than buying factory
