My youngest daughter is turning into a little shooter. We bought her a youth stock for the 10/22, and she loves her "rifle", even though it's still a wee bit big for her. She'll put 300 rounds through the gun in one sitting if we have the time.........:D

So, I had the shotguns out the other day(I have an 870 12 Ga, and the lovely wife has a Wingmaster 20 Ga), and my daughter asked me if there was a shotgun that SHE could shoot. Do any of your kids shoot 410 shotguns? I know they're useless for taking down anything bigger than a mouse, but if my little one wants a shotty, I'm the kind of dad that will get her one as long as it will work for her.

Your feedback is appreciated.

By the way my father gave me a Iver Johnson 410 full choke just like new 2 boxes of winchester #6 one #4 and 3 boxes of slug's when I was 12. I surprised him a couple time's with clean long shot's on the ruffled grouse don't be fooled by the little 410

I've been a fan of the .410 for quite some time. It's the introducing shotgun that I use. Just make sure your daughter can handle it. You wouldn't want to turn her off from all guns just because she wants to impress you with a shotgun.

Good for you for getting your kids involved! My 8 year old son has 2 410s, a 22, and his own compound bow. He handles the 410 well, and other than the loud bang he is not put off by the heavier recoil.

Don't be put off by the 410s small size. It kills with authority, and is usually my gun of choice when wanting to dispatch a varmint in the barn.

410 ammunition is available in 2and one half inch lengths . i would use these for the reduced recoil rather than the 3 inch shells.nice to see familys shooting together.

We have a mossberg 410 pump youth for the kids since they were 8 years/old. Fits them perfectly with no problem shooting it. Both the kids are small in size.

I think it is a great idea. When I was that age my father let me shoot the 410 and obviously it didn't turn me off from it. I have even shot a partridge with it around that age. I am sure she will love it.

My father gave me a .410 when I was 8 and by the time I was 10 I was shooting his 12 guage. I loved going hunting grouse with that old .410, my nephew is the proud owner now.
