IN BC, you only need to have the plug installed if you are huting using shot. So no plug for slug gunning deer or bear.

Yup just double checked, and here in BC this is what we have.

, but we have here a lot of hunters lobbying for handgun hunting, and I don't think all of them plan to shoot some JDJ cartridge... rather the 1911 they got from Marstar. Is that adequate?

Most people who handgun hunt would probably suggest a .44 Mag or heavy 45 Colt and up for hunting. Even a heavily loaded .357 has more smack than a .410 with slugs. But whatever, like GH said, it's more about the hunter than the weapon.

The thing about the .22LR is that the bullet is tiny. The bullets/slug I mentioned are at least similar in weight.

yeah, but I wondered how many ft-lbs...

I went to Cabela's today (empty pockets again....) and took a look at the "feared" 5.7x28. Seems tiny, but packs alot of Level III penetration...

For the sake of this argument, we can move to the Aguila 60 gr. S.S. in 22LR. I regret I didn't buy more at the time....

I've taken several deer with my SKS, at ranges less than 100m. In all cases, the cheap Federal 123gr SP's held together and exited properly. Bang-flop. I challenge anyone to do the same with a .410 slug.

Also .410 shotguns do not come with bayonets like an SKS...unless it is a Saiga (prohib') of course.

Some day for giggles I'd like to convert a beat up shot out SKS into .410, as a poor mans legal Saiga...for Grouse of course.

It would probably work just fine on rabitts and squirels,or just shooting pop cans! I picked up mine just because it was made in 1929(more or less not for sale to the public)a promotion for marlin stock!

I know my Grandson will most likely get it,hope he apreciates how rare it will be! Light weight and five rounds of pure fun!

My #9 ryder in 28 guage with a 34 inch barrel will easily out shoot it.
