I attended the Calgary Gun Show this past Easter and found a little gem. I was quite surprised that this gun was not picked-up prior to my arrival. When I was looking at the gun, there were 4 other guys behind me wanting to look as well. If I put this gun down back on the table I will ever see it again. A quick negotiation and the deal was settled.

It has 28 inch barrels, 3 inch chambers, external hammers along with beautiful wood and case hard colouring. When I arrived home I cleaned it up and decided to stretch it's skinny little legs. I used 2.5 inch shells and fired at a paper cup at 25 yards. Well, it shoots as good as it looks and everything works perfectly with it. It will be my grouse gun when I head north for whitetails in November.

Thanks! Are they still made or does one have to search the used. I don't seem to find many older sxs around where I live let alone one in 410. Always thought it would make a fun small game gun and easy enough on the shoulder for the wife and kids too

That's beautiful!! Always wanted a 410 sxs let alone a hammer gun. What make is it?
It looks similar to the El Faisan, however it is stamped El Chimbo, and made in Spain as well. For a utilitarian shotgun it is unique, light, very skinny and shoots quite well. It will be fun this fall for birds.

Nice wood on it. I've had 2 el Faisans
Both had triggers that would make a sks seem like a gem
With use they become loose and suffered from light primer strikes

Hopefully yours is better

Your correct on the triggers, especially the half mile of creep; however the V springs are quite stiff and it should not suffer from light primer strikes. After all, it's an economy firearm, but built well.

Of all the "El Faisan" 410's I have seen, they were all chromed receivers. Is it possible the "El Chimbo" is the case hardened version of the same receiver?

Beautiful gun none the less. The side lever and overall narrowness of the action and wrist really set them apart. I've not seen one with anything close to that kind of wood

I still have the "ranger" branded Stevens 315 that my grandmother's cousin gave to me when I was about 10 years old. I hope my grandchildren enjoy it some day. My grandma used to buy me a box of shells so I could shoot pigeons which she could make pigeon pie from. My sister had the job of throwing stones up on the roof to scare up the pigeons. It was NOT allowed to shoot holes in the barn roof.

Yes, your quite correct on your comment. This one I own is case coloured and in great shape as well.
