410 slug vs coyote?

No reason why you couldn't. Superbrad mentioned some serious cons against it though. If your skill level is high I think you'd have a lot of fun trying it out.

All ya gotta do is hit e'm! I killed one with a 3" #4 Win out of a .410 at perhaps 15 yards.Ran 20 yards and fell over peppered rib cage............Harold.......one can hand loads a 3 ball buckshot load?

Not exactly a .410 but close, I love to hunt partridge with my O/U 28g with one barrel loaded with an ounce of 7.5's and in the other a 194 gr .50 cal slug. Quite often will catch a yote flat footed in the junipers. Surprisingly accurate. Deadly on yotes.

I'd say throwing knives are a better bet.

If your getting that close anyways..............LOL

Seriously though, how are you hunting? Accuracy is going to be your limiting factor not the energy.

Pushing bush I could see it, but calling them wouldn't be too lucky. Round here 100m is a close shot.

I wouldn't unless I had to. How close do you have to be to hit a 5 inch circle every time? That's your range limit, and I expect it will be short. If you can get one close enough, a .410 slug will absolutely do in a coyote, but it is one of the most inappropriate guns I can think of for coyote hunting.

Learn what your real life range limits are with the gun, and stick to them. Please. No animal should die the kind of death that results from almost missing.

Why would you hunt coyotes with a 410 with slugs ???????? unless that is all you have and you can call them in close-i doubt there will be much pelt damage with 1/4 oz all lead slug !Good Luck !

Can't use center fire rifles where i hunt. Im thinking a 12G would be over kill and my 22lr wouldn't be enough
