who has fired 410's througha 45/70? I have heard about it lots but have never tried it. I would like to try it and see how it patterns but thought I would ask who has done this.

My buddy does shoot 2.5" shells. Effective for close range grouse. You pick them out with your fingernail or pocketknife one at a time.

I take 3" shells apart and put them into 45-70 casings or just use shot with 10gr of unique. The more powder, the wilder the pattern.

Pattern isn't very good and it donuts a bit. I've found that melting it together with wax helps.

I've tried it, but for me all it does is throw a big "O" of pellets out, and for some reason, the bird I'm trying to get remains in the exact center and flies off completely unscathed...

I have used 410 2.5" in marlin rifles and it makes a o pattern and useful to about 15 yards. 410 seem to work only in the marlins as I have a nef and it just doesn't work.
