Ill admit first off I'm not sure if this will work or cause issues. I'm using 4 tenner tubes in a sxs 12ga and I'm loosing velocity. My normal 12ga skeet loads are clocked at 1350fps and factory sts 410 shells I'm getting 1050fps. I'd like to get at least 1200fps. If I handload above the books can I get away with much of an increase due to the 12" tubes in a larger bore and more metal surrounding the chambered area? Also the 410 being smaller rim is there an issue with back thrust on the receiver?

its not just barrel thickness its also the receiver face

reason your getting lower velocity is because its a 12" barrel the .410 is shooting from (i have a hiker .410 with a 12" barrel) the 12ga ammo is burning its powder all the way down the full length of the 12ga barrel

You would actually get a slower round if you use a barrel insert on a 12ga since the rounds lose some of the gas seal right way because the wad opens up. Once the wad loses its seal the powder just burns and doesn't produce as much pressure/velocity. So shooting a barrel insert is like shooing a short barrel in a big tube and doesn't do anything.

I know why I'm loosing the velocity. I was considering switching powders or adding a weee bit more to try and up the velocity but I don't want to ruin my receiver face
1050fps is fine for small game but I'd like a faster payload as to not change so much for skeet leads
