Just back from the brandon gun show. saw a bunch of sakstens for sale at the show. He had about 6 of them on display. They looked decent enough.

explained his story to me, and the hassle the rcmp gave him.
if I remember the prices started around the 1600 mark.

he asked me to pass a hello to some of the members here.

Freedom of speech

I dunno. I have read plenty of refferences about peoples balls, asses, and dicks falling off, so mentioning someone they saw at a gunshow should be o.k. Unless there is some spurious history here I am not aware of.

dude did some questionable things, posted pics of it on this site, got ban hammered.

still though, im glad to see he didnt get himself arrested and has a sellable product finally to market. canada can always use more guns, especially stens that any man can buy with a non 12.x pal!

there's another thread in milsurps that's alive and well. Apparently he's legal now?

Did you happen to spot any of his rumoured non-res stens? Heard there should be some soon.

He burned some bridges here doing things that are against the rules. (At the time, building guns that were not legal, (turns out they were prohib....like we warned him) so he had to rebuild them. Then, as he's in the midst of that schmozzle, he re-joins using new account names (multiple account ban) and it just didn't end well.

NS

Everything I saw was restricted. He had a picture of a half sten half suomi, it looked long , but he said it was still too short.
I am assuming that everything is hand built, one at a time, so I would think it would not be hard to build one with a longer barrel. It was interesting talking with the fellow. sorta reminded me of what I hear the americans need to go through with the batf..for approval.
I don't know if I am prepared to drop that kind of coin, but the fit and finish was much better than the original ones.

I'd do that suomi if it was non res - it looks ok with the long barrel. As I remember though, wasn't it deemed too easily FA? Or did he solve that?

yup, He had to do some modifications that did not allow the rcmp to do any grinding. He showed how the rcmp ground away the portion of the bolt that tripped the disconnector. He said that he has a link(address) on his card that show the video of the rcmp running one of his samples in full auto.

I was hoping to collect my sten at the show but he forgot to bring it, at least he will ship it at his expense.
The stens that were vther were impressive, they all looked like they were built with care.

He had a converted auto without the magwell that he is going to rebuild so the owner can shoot it again.

I asked him about this awhile back. He had mentioned producing longer barrels, but smooth bore for some reason i cannot remember him saying? I'm not entirely sure what he was proposing, but he did mention non-restricted variants to come, so that should be interesting :) !

O.K. I did the reading on this subject to bring myself up to speed. Seems like Spencer should have done all the legal stuff first before publishing all the info. Sure are plenty of haters out there though. I would keep the details of the build to myself and possibly even apply for a patent, and then flood the market and make some money. However, there are not too many wealthy gunsmiths out there so mass appeal has to be taken into account. As a hobby though? Excellent use of spare time !! So far I haven't made a single dime restoring my Mustang so I might have to re think my choice of hobbies.
