Ggrrrrm I keep collpasing the shoulder of my new 416 brass....driving me a bit nuts. I'm wondering about trying to save the 2 I've wrecked and fire form it back out again...not something I've done before Any suggestions?

they are collapsing while seating the bullets?
Chamfered properly?

They may not chamber depending on how badly collapsed they are.

Are your dies new? If so, have you made sure there is no lubricant or other gunk in there from the manufacturing process?

Keep the lube away from the shoulders, it acts like hydraulic fluid and causes the shoulders to collapse

I know how you feel about wrecking a few 416 Rigby Norma brass. I did the exact same thing wrt not chamfering enough.

I did save a couple by managing to get them sized enough to fit in the chamber...I do not think it was worth the effort tho and the chance of failure of the brass increases.

Haven't collapsed any 416 brass but collapsed a couple of 450 Rigby shoulders. As mentioned above applied a better chamfer plus small amount of beeswax lube inside neck did the trick. Tumbled and used case neck brush to clean out reside.

The primer only, used with cornmeal, fireformed the brass?

Ted

primer only with creme of wheat.filled the case with creme of wheat.kept the rifle pointed muzzle up.covered the muzzle with a thick hoodie/jacket.pulled the trigger and boom.lots of energy and the case was formed.i had set my die to low which caused them to be crushed.i posted this awhile back and the guys on here helped me out.
