That's one of the wonderful things about Alberta. You can go outside an shoot a frozen rain barrel and, well, it's almost like you are a scientist doing valuable research. Do the same thing in Ontario and you are strung up for being needlessly violent towards our frozen and plastic brethren *LOL*
No ERT response in Alberta, neither. Maybe just a nosey neighbour checking to see if they can take a couple of shots, too. I know I would try.

Not entirely. I got a Scotish imigrant down the road that is of the opinion:
"You shouldn't have rifles. Only soldiers should have rifles."
When he told me that I was only shooting a Midland 2100 .30-06...
I got a great hill as a backstop just north of the house. I do still shoot into it from time to time, but I do most of my shooting at the range since shooting by yourself sucks.
He never has called the RCMP on me, but I don't wanna lose my temper with him when he pulls into the yard to complain. Trust me it is hard! Seems to think bullets can somehow bounce off or go through a hill 200 feet tall by 150 yards long.
Some day I think I gotta pull out my fun firearm and start ripping off a belt, but OPSEC...Non-restricted and legal, but I don't want the IP knowing about it. Lets just say the local girl he married has less than stellar family members...
Now I wonder what the GFW Scot would think of that!

Damn right it is!
I'll take my Savage 10FCP in .308 Win, with my HK USP Compact in .45 ACP as a sidearm. However, if I had a .416 Rigby, I think it's clearly been demonstrated that I should use THAT instead!

P.S. If I were to anticipate facing MANY wild barrels-o-ice, I would use the AR15 with the USP as a sidearm - hoping to wound the barrels and make a safe escape uphill where they could not, per the laws of physics, follow.

Don't got any pics, but I fired the CZ-858 with (I think it's from) Israel surplus into ice.
It was getting dark, so I fired a round, and went to go check it out. From a distance it just looked like a pinhole into the ice. Got closer, and all the ice was shattered, so I started digging to see how deep it went. Only went about 6 inches.
Fired another 7 into the ice. Came back and found the first bullet I had fired, the one I dug out.
Needless to say, I recovered 3 bullets... and those bullets are DEFINITELY not hunting rounds. Slight deformation on the tip of the brass only lol.

The next time you see him, remind him that the messed up laws that make no sense are probably a large part of the reason why he moved out of UK into Canada.

About to sart load developement with the 350TSX in my 416 Rem. Should go around 2650ish. maybe 2700. The Rigby's one cool and powerfull round but the Rem will do very similar stuff with 20 grs. less powder and in a much lighter gun. Don't get me wrong I like the rigby a bunch and have hunted Mulies up high with the 350 TSX load in a big CZ. 10.5 lb. mountain rifle.

I didn't experience any sticky cases with that load, and using the gun for protection I wouldn't of tolerated sticky brass. That load worked fine for me with both Xs and Magtips. I don't recall what my 400 gr load was, but the bullets were Barnes solids (before they banded them) and they ran around 2400 fps.
