$42.99 for a pound of powder!

Happens all the time here. I think there has to be a 'within reason' placed by the store owner so everyone gets something = build a shooting community.
300 is weak I agree, but how about a brick or two?

300 is weak I agree, but when the shop only has three bricks in stock and can't get any more..............:(

I'm still paying mid-twenties per pound of powder, but primers have indeed increased to $36, up from $24 when I started handloading last year.

And hey, all you west coast people get your own sh*t together and stop "group buying" from Higginsons! He's OURS! :p

Dante's in Montreal always seems to have primers handy.

Thanks Cerdan. If Higginsons (they're closer) don't have any I will have to make the drive to Montreal.

I'm gonna start buying components now before I have bought a gun. :D

lucky

$28 for a pound of Universal, but it was the last pound in the store. No Winchester 209 primers neither, had to take Federals and now I have to play with the load books to see what else changes.

PROMO, ClayDot etc

The nice people at ATK/Alliant make two powders that I regularly use. The first is PROMO. It's the same receipe as RedDot without the red dots. Comes only in 8 pound containers, but costs out as C$111.00 per 8. That's about $13.99 per pound.
ClayDot is like Hodgson's Clays but is a little more money, around C120.00 per 8 pounds.

Went to Russels in Calgary, and asked for 5000 CCI small rifle would only sell me 1000, I asked if they were low, he said no, but that was all he was willing to sell to one customer. I asked why they advertise a lower price for 5000 in the catalog if they were not willing to sell that many, and he didn't really give me an answer. I went to Proline instead and they were more than happy to take my money for what I wanted.

Tried Higginsons for powder at the end of April, but he was out of everything I wanted so I have to wait till end of May when they have more coming in.
