-42 and out hunting yotes

The .270 will drop that wolf in his tracks 4 sure good luck&its been my experience that when its this cold if possible the coyotes will wait 4 bad weather to break until going to fill there bellies. But once again there's no tellin what a coyote will do so good luck&good huntin. Callin coyotes makes me howl lol

How far from the truck do you dare to trek in -40?

I would have to leave mine running, I would hate to come back to a dead battery in the middle of no where, -40 lol

It's amazing what a coyote can take and still get up. I'm not going out in that weather.

No kidding. I took two this year with a 7mm STW and 160 grn Accubonds. I realize my 22-250 AI with 50 grn BT's is enough and that the dogs don't need that 160, but the first was during deer season @ 100yds and was DRT.

The second was supervising(no PAL, under age) my younger bro deer hunting and I had the STW out to cover his shots(if he wounds one, I have the backup shot).
Yote stopped facing head on @ 300yds lasered and then just as I shot turned to go. He took the round about 4" forward of his hips and was tossed about a meter into the air. He came down and tried to get up twice and finally sat with his imjured haunches below him to try again when #2 took him square in the chest and stilled him.

I have to say, every deer I've shot was DRT with this gun and load, that yote impressed me.

JT.

that day I only walked about 500yrds when I got that one. I went out for a walk today and called I walked to the other side of the quarter with no luck...just cold hands and a frozen mouth call. I think it was only low 40s this afternoon.
I figured I may as well go out seeing I'm on nights for the next 7 and I never feel like going in the morning after a shift. however I may leave for work a little early and take the gun in case..what's the saying??? Things you see when you don't have a gun..:sniper:
