I just picked up a bag of 425gr RNGC .460 diameter for my Marlin SBL from Jet bullets. Anybody out there have any loads or load data they’d like to share pretty please!

I've been using the Flat Nose 350gr 0.459 Hardcast, Gas Checked bullets from Jet here in AB. Firing from a Henry All Weather lever rifle.
I've just loaded a batch of their 425gr at 45gr IMR3031 and 2.485" (stubby little suckers), with the hopes of being somewhere in the 1600fps range. I'll let you know once I've put them over the chrono.

I have loaded Bullet Barn 450 over 40grs. 3031 in the 1400 park. Hard cast bullets not any leading so far. I don't shoot it much as its a defence load.

So just got off the phone with the fellow that makes JET bullets and he figured imr 3031 is just to slow burning for the 425gr and gave me some suggestions using H4198 I’ll post results after a few shots!

Ok, just got back from the range.
New Starline Brass, Fed 210 Primer, 425gr GC HardCast Jet Bullet, 45gr IMR3031, COL=2.482, moderate crimp with Lee FCD.
25yds on the bench with open sights.
Notes:
Avg 5 Shot Velocity=1671fps, Spread=66fps, Std Dev=24fps
Excellent Accuracy, Smooth shot, Manageable Recoil

In terms of velocity, shot quality, and accuracy, this was the best load of the 10 I tested today.

Orange circle is 3" wide.

I really don't think so. IMR4895 maybe. Given the results I found today, I will definitely use 3031 with these bullets in the future.

I've also loaded up 5 each of the 425gr Jet bullets with 46, 47 and 48gr of H322 (between 3031 and 4198 in burn rate). Will let you know how that goes.

46 gr of imr 3031 under 425 gr from jethunter. Seated down to crimp line. Thumps hard. Fairly accurate. I do have mine set up for bear defence when I am hiking up in Grande cache.

If I was building a "defence load" with that bullet I'd be adding at least 10 grains more 3031 and then working around until I was satisfied.

I have loaded 50 grs of H322 with the 420 gr hardcast GC at 1800 fps
I get very good results with this load in my orginal Marlin 1895 Guide Gun and it will stop a freight train.

I REALLY like this powder! It meters as well or better than Reloader7 and seems to give a more consistent velocity in my 5 shot intervals.

As promised, here are the range results from these three loads:

Starline Brass, Jet 425gr Round Nose Flat Point Hard Cast Gas Check Bullet, Federal 210 Primer, OAL 2.482", Moderate crimp with Lee FCD.
Henry H010AW All-Weather Lever Action (18.4" Barrel 1:20), bench rest, open sight, 25yds.

46gr H322:
Average 5 Shot Velocity - 1697fps
Spread - 28
Std Dev -10
Notes: Manageable Recoil, Full Burn, No pressure signs, Good accuracy.

47gr H322:
Avg 5 Shot Velocity -1754fps
Spread - 21
Std Dev -9
Notes: Recoil not noticeably different than 46gr, full burn, Good Accuracy.

48gr H322:
Avg 5 Shot Velocity - 1792fps
Spread - 25
Std Dev - 9
Notes: Recoil slightly higher than 46 & 47gr loads but still manageable, full burn, Good Accuracy.

Several years ago Brian Pearce took a Cape Buffalo with a (factory) load similar to that. Pass-through and into a smaller cow hidden behind. Both DRT.
You should be good for anything on this continent if you put 'em where it counts. :)
