I just use Dominian and Bertram brass ... they are out there ...
Dominion is 2 piece brass and iffy from what I have read, Bertram if in stock is $6 or more a piece.
You can make usable brass from 45-70 and 45-90 of if you have a lathe make brass from a few other cases as shown in the video.
Dominion is one piece brass. Made the same as any other brass.
Apparently not, unless there are 2 different types. There is a failure issue at the head with Dominion brass.
Dominion brass is also pushing 60 years old.
Only problem I have with Dominion brass is splitting case mouths. I found out if you anneal them after the first firing they last along time. I do anneal them every 4 th time. Never had any problems with bases splitting. When I tried using 45-70 cases I found I was getting split bases in about 1/4 on the first firing.
I got bored one night and decided to try making cases out of 300 Winchester magnum. Made up 30 cases and have been shooting them, 3rd firing so far. They have a smaller rim so won’t extract from the 71/84’s I have. I just push them out with a cleaning rod down the muzzle. They will extract from my 71. I have various other 43 Mauser cases by different companies which are over 10 firings. I kept finding them at gun shows and some came with rifles I bought.

I do the same 338 win mag, fire formed, but i use 8mm brass washers, bore out center with 13/32, remove belt, and turn down head so that the new washer will fit to a depth of 90thou. Then glue with super glue the new rim, turn down outside to .590. The new rims with extract fine, but the glue is not strong enough for sizing.
You could solder the brass rings on, melting temperature of 50-50 solder is only 420F so way not enough to accidentally anneal the case head.

Iv heard of folks doing this, but iv always played it safe to never put heat to a case head. And I only load paper patch in the unsized cartridge, this works for me. Thanks though, I have been tempted to use woods metal to solder but have not tried it yet.
