Can anyone comment on approx value range of "Mauser"model 1871 or 1871/84 in 43 Mauser? I believe this one should be in at least above average condition as it has been with one owner in what sounds like good storage conditions since 1947. If a particular manufacturer is known to be of premium value please advise (e.g. Danzig,Erfurt, Amberg, Spandau, Waffenfabrik...)I will probably only have one visit on this rifle so want to be a bit prepared.
Thanks!

you might be surprised...
I saw a few 71/84 mausers in Quebec in nearly new condition, 10-15 years back.
was told this rifles belonged to the Papal Zouave Regiments which participated in religious ceremonies before the 1960's...

IIRC the amberg ones are the rarest. unit markings are good, as are complete rifles (most seem to have been cut down). watch for matching parts, even the screws are SN'ed.

Check to make sure it hasn't been rebuilt. Every part on them, or pretty much all of them are serial numbered, and check under the bands for splicing where someone repaired a bubba job. I picked up mine in BEAUTIFUL shape with a mismatched mag tube cap, stock band, and seamless wood splice for $400.

71/84's

Couple locally at $500 and a really nice Oberndorf for $700 and I mean "nice". Not my think, but I can appreciate anything that's been around that long.
