If you have access to a lathe you can make very nice brass out of 45/90 cases. You first need to make a little die to convert the 45/90 rim to an A-base. Then the rim is turned down to the 43 Mauser size. The case is then full length resized. You may need to shorten the case 1/2 to 1 mm. Finally, fireform the brass with a normal load. A bit of a bulge forms at the base but this bulge doesn't get squeezed down by your 43 Mauser die especially if you just partial resize to get enough neck tension for the bullet.
The little die to make the A-base has a shape that is the negative of a Dominion 43 Mauser case head but wider in diameter to accept the 45/90 base. We use a hydraulic press using a bolt that just slips into the 45/90 case to press the base into the A-base shape. This process takes care of the head space issue due to the recess in the bolt face. Also, the ejector slides nicely over this profile.
Unlike the Dominion brass which sometimes split longitudinally at the base, none of the reworked Starline 45/90 cases have failed after many reloads. The following three pics off the net by author LoLo26543 shows the die and end result. This author gets all the credit for this process.
I've used 45-90 brass and it's quite a bit of work. I sleeved the base with thin-wall brass tubing, reduced the rim diameter and bevelled its outside edge. Upon fire-forming the tubing is locked in place.
Did it once, then just bought 43 Mauser brass from Mysticplayer.
