.308, it is part of some of my most accurate ammunition recipes. Shotgun??? uh..it would be first I hear of it, if 700x is a shotgun powder imr 4320 is way over on the other side of the burn chart so probably too slow, I am not saying an absolute no, some may chime in here with another answer but I'm not so sure that you want any serious pressure build up in a shot gun barrel.

IMR 4320 works well in most medium sized cases with medium or light-weight bullets. One of the best powders for 303 Brit. and light 308/30-06 bullets. Meters great. It is one of the available powders still on the shelf in a lot of places. I bought a couple pounds of IMR SSC4007 and then found out it was discontinued. If anyone has loads developed with that powder and would like to trade for something of equal value PM me.

4320 was one of the early powders for the 30-06 military loads. It can be used in a surprising amount of calibers, and is almost never the best in anything. Two that it shines in are 35 Whelen and the 458 Lott.

I use 4320 for 55gr and 70gr 243, and 150gr and 165gr 7.5x55, as well as for 55gr 223. Meters really well as others have said

Seems anytime i look up a varget load IMR 4320 is right there aswell.. usually close to the same amount of grains and velocity. I tried it in the 22-250 and got great accuracy but stayed with varget due to the different temp changes im constantly hunting in.
IMR4007 SSC. prolly my favorite powder of my 7mm-08 and 22-250. when i heard it was discontinued i bought close to 20 pounds. Now Varget and IMR4320 are now sitting on the shelf collecting dust.

It is similar in speed to RL-15. A bit slower than 4895. Fine grained, it meters well. It used have a fair amount of variation from lot to lot. Might be better now with the factory under new management.

if you have a quantity of it, use it in medium rifle cases. Absolutely no good for shotgun.
