Sorry for the stupid question, is there a hard date that winchester stopped producing 44-40 rifles designed for blackpowder?

I think the question should be when did Winchester stop producing model 92 rifles, assuming that is the gun you are talking about. I don't think there was any significant change in the action around 1900 or a bit later when black powder was being phased out. Almost forgot about the model 73; I think they were produced concurrent with the 92 into the 1920s or later

Loading manuals like Lyman's, have two categories' for .44-40 rifles, the 1st is for 1873 strength types and the 2nd is for 1892 strength types.
The new Italian copies are proofed to 11,000 BAR or 15954 psi .

you had it right with the 92 but I wasn't sure if there where any other models in that caliber from winchester.
