Are they all over the map from .427-.429 I'm looking at a Win 92 and a modern Win 94 in 44-40............these are cast I can get in either size? Don't have anything to slug the bores with.........Thanx Harold

A hard cast bullet may not be your best choice in the .44 WCF, it has been killing critters, both 2 legged and 4 legged, for 135yrs. with fairly soft lead bullets. Soft lead bullets tend to fit the cyl. and barrel better on ignition, harder bullets don't obturate (is that a word?), allowing hot gases to "blow by", and cause leading in your cyl./barrel. You may have to experiment as some chambers won't allow the round to enter fully if the bullet is too big, that's why alot of folks use the .427" bullets.

From what I've researched Rem brass has the thickest necks and Win the thinnest .So it's a juggling game to get chamber fit with the right bullet as well. Not to mention 200r jacketed bullets for the .44 mag are .429 and the cannalure is not in the right location in most cases.fun....fun.....fun...............Harold
