Not cheap, though, especially if you only need it once.

The wax casting may be accurate enough if you just want to find out if the chamber is long enough for .410 shells.

oouf, i wouldnt want to know the shipping on that. ill wait it out, someone will have some to sell eventually.

Have a look at your chamber on that gun. The wall thickness should be more than heavy enough to handle modern 410 shells with no problems. If the chamber is too short you'll find that the crimp portion of the 410 shell gets blown off or severely damaged during firing. I don't think I'd get too worried about it though... The 410 doesn't create a lot of pressure and I know of several people ho have fired over length shells through theirs with no ill effects.

oh the gun has seen tons of 410 and handles it fine, im just curious as to the the 'origional' chambering.

IIRC though, 410 creates the MOST pressure of any shotgun shell.

oops.... Forgot to mention... My 12" IGA backpacker was bought for well under $200.... It's just hate to see a cool old gun like that cut up.... It'll also change it to prohib status if you cut it less than 18" because it is a takedown and must maintain a minimum overall length of 26".
