Just ordered a S&W 629 hunter what is good ammo to try??? Remington 180gr. Jsp, Fiocchi 240gr., or Sellier & Bellot 240 Jsp. First 44magnum:). That’s about the only ammo available right now...

All that is good quality stuff. The Remington is pretty hot and loud. The others are a little calmer. Get a mix.

Me to, but I grabbed a Ruger from Prophet River's liquidation sale. I'm going to try the Hornady Lever Evolution ammo amongst others like the ones you listed...

Cheers

Yes I will be getting dies, probably Redding or Dillon? I have been loading for years for rifle, but I will be eventually be getting a Dillon 550 I think when I get enough brass.
I presume these are all safe in a Smith&Wesson? I here some ammo is made more for the Ruger's because of the strength of their frames??
I also have a 9mm CZ shadowmate and a 40 springfield XDM :) :)

Then... home-load.

I may be selling brand new un-opened, un-used:

Dillon carbide dies,
650XL conversion kit,
case gauge,
100 nickel-plated starline brass
(all .44 Magnum).

I am not 100% decided yet, but keep it in mind and PM me should you wish to go that route.

The Remington stuff has a really unique sound, doesn't it? Also the fireball lights up the range and the shockwave thumps your chest. Fun ammo for when you want the full 44 Magnum experience.

OP: I agree that you should try a mix of ammo. Also, as has been suggested, reloading is wise with a 44 Magnum. You will save a tremendous amount of money by reloading - far bigger savings than you get by reloading 9mm etc. Also, reloading means you can use the full range of bullet weights and power levels that the 44 is capable of.

if you want something nice and mild that you can shoot all day... shoot 44 special.. in a large revolver like a 629 it hardly recoils....

I reload my own. All lead plain base and gas checked. Max load of 2400 with LYMAN 250 gr that I use in my Raging Bull. Also trying a 215 gr gc. My Contender with scope I have settled on a 180 gr wad cutter with Unique. Works well at 25m. Just picked up a RCBS 240 gc iam going to try also. A 250 gr RN works well in the Bull. Wide range of loads and bullets can be used. Feed a 44 right and they are very accurate.
