What else was I supposed to expect … a usual … an exploration of a thoroughly researched topic and backed up with very detailed empirical evidence.

However, .... you do realize Brobee … that this is sacrilegious to your origins …. and by that I mean your love for the 12ga …..
Personally I would love to see a similar sort of exploration and bear hunt with a 12ga ..... maybe even a Shockwave or Tac14 .... ohhh well .....

As an after thought, what round would be good for not going through?
Bought a Smith & Wesson lever gun for black bears at our trailer. My 45/70 was thought to be too potent for my environment.

Cartridge chosen for hunt: 240grain Federal Fusion.
Approximate Range to Bear: 30-35 yards (approximate impact velocity: 1575 fps)
Slug Recovery? No, complete passthrough with good entrance and exit holes
Number of shots: 1 (one). While the bear only went about 4 yards from where shot, I too was surprise how long it lay there moaning with a hole like that through it's heart.
Do girls still hunt with dad? Occasionally, they are pretty busy with their young adult lives. Hoping for a day or two of grouse action this coming season.
305gr hornady XTP: Very interesting idea, would be substantially lower muzzle velocity so would hurt in the trajectory department, but for close range bear engagements this would not matter much. Am sad I did not test this, it is on the list to watch out for, buy, and try. Also on the list is the Swift A-Frame
Which Reflex Sight? How was it mounted? Aimpoint Acro C2 with a 2.5 MOA dot, mounted on a glock plate I milled to remove the dovetail then located three 8-40 holes which were shallowly drilled and tapped by a gunsmith on the octagonal barrel.
Sacrilege: kinda feels that way a bit, but I am loving the 44 mag guns. They are lighter than most all my 12 gauges, easier to get good 100 yard accuracy, recoil less, and are more affordable to shoot via hand loading. What really held me off going back to my roots was another project in the realm of sacrilege - coach-gun-converting one of my already bubba'ed Browning BSS's. Had it been done in time I likely would have gone bear hunting with it and hand-loaded 7/8oz lee key drive slugs.
Which bullet for no-pass-through? One of the light, fast jacketed hollow points. Going this route though risks it blowing up in the front shoulder without doing what it was supposed to do.
Probability I try another no-narration element: yet-to-be-determined (but diminishing)....

Loved your utube video. Watched in on the big screen instead of my iPhone. So many things to admire, captivating camera work, extensive bullets tested, most impressed with swamp water penetration. Again the movie drew me in, we were all there with you in that hunt, right up to and including dipping my feet in the water right beside you at the very end. Brilliant and thank you.
Why would you want a bullet to not pass through? Two holes will always be better than one. Especially if you need to track the thing in heavy bush.

my Big Horn Amory in 460 shoots just about any expensive offering well.
the 300gr HSM 18" barrel push these 300grain suckers out just shy of 2300fps
I find they are the most accurate offhand with sights 10 yards to 100 yards perfect, I opted for a dot and a quick release mount
as shown I have them 3" high at 100 giving me a dead hold at 220 yards, while still being on close I can take it off and use sights just as well.
the rifle and bullet combo sure shoots better than I can without a magnified optic.
the 200 monoflex comes out screaming at 2698fps which is impressive yet crazy. They are sub moa and very close to HSM stuff.
However for big bear (charging) while 200gr Im sure is fine I will choose the 300's
the FTX I found to be picky and not so reliable feeding with the poly tip.
XTP I found to be almost the same with the big blunt nose.
I seen S&B has a 260 copper im going to give a try and test accuracy.
At the end of the day gotta get out test the ammo, pick one that shoots good but also pick one that will perform for the task you want.
