Yeah, I'm really jonesing for one now as well. But I'm still debating, whether 44 mag or 45-70 (yes, yes, I know the correct answer is both). Either way, I want a carbine length one, with a 16.5" to 18" barrel.

the more important choice is which rifle do you want, then what it is available in for the cartridge
45s are going to be larger frame usually, bigger in the hands, but can be down-loaded to 44 power too....
44 will never match the power potential of the 45...

Fair. The reason I want the shortie is that I want a backpacker that I can take into the brush as a backup in case any unwanted diners show up. And, obviously, for some boomfun at the range. Don't intend to do any serious hunting with it as such. That all says 44. Bbbbbbut 45-70

For me it would be 44mag just because it is cheaper to shoot and a lot less recoil!
I have a 458 win mag when I feel the need to get shaken… and it would have to be a Winchester, preferably a take down… just like the op’s rifle really!

The CVA single shots in 44 mag are really calling my name. Perhaps kinda dumb because I already have a 450 BM but why not two, right?

Funny how in the water test the 270gr Hammerdown fusion round did a lot worse than I've seen in gel. You'd think the harder medium flattens it out more but who knows.
