I just bought a marlin 1894 in .44 rem mag/.44spl and I've been looking for cases and powder for almost two weeks and have not been able to find anything except dies. Anybody else out there looking and finding or looking and being disappointed .

Without having my manual handy not to sure what the difference in dimension the special and mag brass is as far as max loads and such as I have seen a box or two of the special brass from hornady around.

Welcome to the world of reloading with a democrat in power in the states.

My suggestion is to pour over reloading manuals so that you are familiar with different load combinations of powder and bullets and then jump on what's available.

Since you're going to be loading for rifle you have different powder options available than the pistol guys. Like I said, check the manual info.

Same with brass. Posting here in the WTB section of the EE will probably find you some once fired for a good price.

Primers and bullets are out there.

Good luck and have fun!

Cool thanks for the info thus far. I am looking to get the h100 or possibly blue dot as my Lyman manual basically list both powders for jacketed or cast , and I need it pick up a couple new moulds and a .431 sizer die for the lubesizer . I hate buying just about anything online since I hate paying for shipping. However in the case of only places available being out of province thus far it looks like I just may need to place an order in the next few days and possibly put a wtb add. This gun could eat through my lead stash faster than my 45-70 if I can get all the components together to last a while lol.

When I started loading for .44 I ended up just biting the bullet (pun intended) and bought some factory Winchester ammo and have been re-using that brass. I think I found some brass after that at higginsons. Powder has been hard to find (296/110) but I just got some from Henry at Budget (H110) and I think he may still have some. Unfortunately these days it seems unless you happen to live near a big retailer, buying over the internet and paying for shipping is the norm. I was really surprised that the shipping from budget for H110 and some 223 cases was only 25 buck from Vcr to Ont.

On a side note, how is the new Marlin 1894 rifles? From what I've read on the Marlin forums, they're a lot better than the earlier RemLins.

Overall the rifle is excellent, there is abslight space at the very bottom of the inleting where the stock bolt goes through bit all other wood to metal and metal to metal fit is near perfect. I did have to drift the rear sight a bit to centre it in the dove tail but it shoots to point of aim now. I also ran the leverba couple hundred times and then used some 600 grit paper to polish a couple spots on the lever as there was still mill scale under the blueing Iam going to guess the levers are hot stamped and this one was just never buffed off enough.

I use H110 and Lil' Gun... no problem finding them in Ontario... I'm stocked up.... 225 FTX bullets were around a few months ago, so I'm good for awhile, but they seem to have disappeared in recent months. Lots of cast bullets available everywhere.
