Hey all. I'm looking to reload a stout 240g cam pro RNFP, and a soft hard cast lead 240g FP.

Does anyone have any opinion on powders for these loads? Will do double duty for an 8 3/4 revolver (guess which lol) and a rossi 92 20"

Thx!

H110/w296, lilgun or 2400 are going to give you the hottest loads, tightgroup, hp-38/w231, trailboss, etc will give you plinking loads.

I use Tite Group for all my pistol powders. Works great and I can easy get 8lb containers.

It will work well for 44mag in pistol and carbine with lead or Jacket bullets.

Yes they say Titegroup works well...

I used it in all my Pistol loads (9mm, 40 S&W, 45, 357 mag, 44 mag), but when I compared the results, I went quickly back to W231 for all pistol loads, except 44mag, for which I use Unique and 2400.

I shot .44 mag in my Cowboy action matches for about 12 years. My Ruger Vaqueros loved W231 under a 240 grain LSWC and my Marlin M1894 liked Unique under a 240 grain LRNFP.

H110/296 or 2400 for full power, accurate loads for sure.
231 is really accurate and excellent to about 1,100 fps in an average 6 1/2 - 7 1/2 inch revolver, which would give about 1,400 fps with the slower powders.

Hi,

For the longer barrels, and especially the 20" Rossi, H110/Win 296 should give great results. If you can find Alliant Pistol Pro 300-MP, you could also try it.

Regarding you statement in the OP ..."for an 8 3/4 revolver (guess which lol)"..., I cannot guess the make of the revolver, as I do not know of any standard production 8 3/4" revolver. Perhaps you can tell us?
