Anyone use Federal 44 mag 240gr hydra shok factory rounds in a rifle for Deer hunting ? Heard they work well does anyone have any personal experience with them?

I only reload for my .44's... but as a 150 and under load the 225 FTX over H110 is a pretty impressive load... 3" MPBR at 130 yards... that's 0-150 inside a 6" target... with a little Kentucky windage, you should be bang on.

hey man, how does that reloader greek to me talk compare to Hornady 225 gr FTX LEVERRevolution factory ammo? Am I good to go for Deer hunting with that? My new to me 99/44 hits well with it on our AR500 steel gongs out front off the deck. She seems to be a shooter with that stuff. Just happened to have it on hand on the ammo shelf for other 44's.

Interestingly... I fired a 20 round box of the Hornady Leverevolution loads side by side with my handloads... POI was identical and sound/recoil felt the same to me... my loads are 24 grains of H110... according to the Hornady manual that is over MAX (you know the routine; start low and work up), but I had no problems with the 77/44 or my Win 94... they are definitely a respectable hunting load... the MPBR I quoted above was with this load... 3" KZ; ZERO @ 130; MPBR=150... nothing wrong with that!

You don't need/want the hydro shock.... They are designed for people sized mass to maximize shock and reduce pass-throughs. I've taken almost more animals than I can count with the .44 over the last two decades (Deer/bear). All of them with a 240gr. JSP

My other load is 240 SWC hardcast over Lil'Gun... the penetrate, but accuracy is not great... back in the cedar swamps, they are not a handicap, but over 50 yards I am not using them... I have seen plenty of gelatin tests and recovered game bullets to know that the 225 FTX holds together just fine and retains mass... and IME the accuracy is excellent.

Where did I mention the FTX?? The OP was asking about the Federal Hydroshok Personal Defence Ammo.

I misunderstood based on your mention of "Hydro Shock" (verb) as opposed to "Hydra Shok" (noun)... considering your post followed mine... no harm done either way...
