I tried my hand at a .44 for the first time today. What an awesome cartridge! A total blast, both literally and figuratively!

I think it was a Ruger single action revolver.

...that's all I wanted to say, really.

It truly is an awesome round. It's easy to reload and it can be very accurate even with lighter plinking loads. Personally though I like'em on the hot side...me like recoil!!

I love those ruger .44's & may I add .45's to the list....:dancingbanana:

Nice collection ruffbird, very nice. For Rugers in 44 Mag I have an old Flattop with factory staghorn grips. My favorite in the caliber is my 4" S&W 29, with factory ivory.:DThe 44 Mag as a handgun caliber, without a doubt one of the finest.:)

While partially quoted, here is the full quote.

I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

My two sons ,13 and 11 can quote this word for word and anytime they get to touch my 629 they start spouting it.

.44 Mag

Have had one in the past.... S&W Model 29 6"............ And a couple rifles in it as well.... Win 94 Legacy rifle and a Ruger 77 bolt action. Mighty fine ctg.

Sold my Model 29 a few years back after discovering the .41 Magnum. These days it's a S&W 6" Model 57 .41 Mag that's my 'big wheelgun' favorite..........

But I do understand others love of the mighty .44.................... ;)

I grew up reading Louis L'amour novels and his characters alway had one caliber for their main rifle and and revolver.

I picked up a lever action .44 mag years ago and just loved it. Such a versatile rifle. Finally, about 2yrs ago I matched it with a Ruger SBH 7.5" in stainless. And just love it as well, so much fun plinking at the end of the pistol range! I've thinking of adding another to the fold.

PS Very sweet collection ruffbird...
