Hey, I just picked up some Frontier 245gr FP bullets but the cannelure/crimping groove is really thin and small. It looks impossible to roll crimp. Is anybody using these bullets? What should I do? I plan to load these fairly warm.
Crimp them the same as you have with all your other bullets, won't hurt a thing. I have crimped thousand of .38 sp bullets half way between the crimp groove and first lube groove ( because that's the length I found to work the best in 94 Marlins) with no noticeable change in accuracy or leading.
I load them in mild loads using 7.5gr W231. I use a light crimp on these as they don't need the heavy crimp that propellants like H110, IMR4227 etc need. If you need heavy crimp just crimp them as you normally do, should be fine.
