I just purchased this and have a few questions.

I have never seen these types of grips before. Does anybody know anything about them?

Across the top it says "MADE IN THE 200TH YEAR OF AMERICAN LIBERTY"

Is this a model specific stamp?
How are these things to shoot?

Thank you as always for your time.

look like target grips. or custom jobbies for someone with big mitts. By filling in behind the square trigger guard you avoid having it bang your knuckle with heavy loads. With the wider/thicker panels, it will spread the recoil over a greater area, making if feel less.

They are my preferred gun for 44 mag. I find the heavy kickers more comfortable in a single action frame then a double action one.

Not sure about the grips, but in terms of how they shoot, man are you gonna love it! Not sure I would say they tame the .44 mag, but they sure manage it well!

Enjoy!

I have a Ruger Old Army with the exact same stamping in the same place on top of the barrel.
Many Ruger handguns received this stamping. Hence they were all made in 1976.

Those ergonomic oversize grips appear to be an after market option.

Nice revolver friend. I bet you it will shoot really well!

I have an Interarms Virginian Dragoon 44 Mag made in 1976 and it has " We the People" stamped on the butt of the grips so I guess a lot of gun makers thought that date meant something.
The recoil of the 44 isn't "crazy" like a full house 500S&W is. I find it manageable and if you hang on to it properly it won't hurt, the extra vigilance on the holding seems to add to the accuracy.
