Has anyone ever tried this stuff?

Anyone know where to buy it in Canada?

I'd love to try some in my Super-Blackhawk.

" Is there a warning on the box that says not to use it in a S&W? "

Actually yes there is. This is directly from their website;

" This new load is designed ONLY for certain firearms. They are as follows; Ruger Red Hawk, Ruger Super Red Hawk, Ruger Super Blackhawk or Vaquero, Freedom Arms Model 83, Taurus Raging Bull, Colt Anaconda and Dan Wesson Revolvers "

" We get hundreds of emails asking if this load can be fired in S&W revolvers or some firearm other than what is in the above list. The answer is NO "

"The same bullets they use(LBT) are available in Canada so it should be a snap to make your own."

Sadly, I would not have the courage to load my own ammo that heavily.

At least not until I ran a couple boxes of factory +P ammo through my gun.

Interesting load.... wonder what the test firearm & barrel length was to get that velocity rating?

No matter that it's not rated for Smiths. Most shooters can't effectively handle regular factory .44 Magnum JHP or JSP loads anyway.

I wouldn't mind popping a few of the above from a Ruger Redhawk just to say I did.

NAA.

Never mind, found the info on the website on what the test firearm was:

5.5 inch factory stock Red Hawk - 1401 fps

7.5 inch factory stock Red Hawk - 1478 fps

I've got a 4.6 inch Super-Blackhawk. So my fps would be slightly lower than that.

I'll stick with what I know and with what has worked for me. H-110/Win 296 produces the best velocity in the .44 regardless of bullet weight, and it seems unlikely that a bullet that weighs 15 grs more then Ben's 325 WFN would pick up an additional 200 fps from a short barreled revolver, regardless of powder choice. If there is a 15 gr increase in bullet weight, there has to be a significant drop in velocity if the pressure is to remain similar. I suspect 1050 fps is more like it for a 340 from a 4.6" barrel, and at that your bullets had better all be the same weight as a heavy one would create a dangerous pressure spike.

I've seen this ammo in the U.S. but not here yet.

The Buffalo Bore site has a link to a Canadian company in its export section. They don't list .44 magnum under "civilian ammunition" but maybe it would be worth following up with them to see if its available.

This ammo initially caught my interest for use in a Ruger 77/44 however like other +P loads it may not work in the magazine due to longer than normal OAL.

" Yawn... looks good but unfortunately it is still just a .429" bullet... "

Yeah, but at 340 grains these suckers should be getting close to the drama of your .454 Casull pistols. At least in the same ballpark I hope.

naa those skinny little meplated bullets only come close to the performance of my 345gr WLNGC 45 Colt loads comparing to 454 performance would be more like comparing a bunt to a home run...

:p
