Ah, pistol caliber lever guns. One of the most fun gun you'll shoot.
My collection is represented by:
two Winchester/Miroku 1892 .44 Rem Mag
one Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited .357 Mag
If you have a chance to check out the Miroku, do it. Expensive? Yes but you get what you pay for. I love mine and even though they're over a grand I still take 'em out and shoot them. Still butt plate that's curved so it has some kick, especially since the gun is like, six pounds. Really light, really thin and narrow. Really handy. Most new lever guns have an external safety of some sort on them. The Mirokus have a tang safety and rebounding hammer. I have two of these guns and in several hundred rounds not any problems. Slightly stiffer.
The Rossis are more traditional in design, as are the Chiappas. I think the Japanese Winchesters put them all to shame though. Marlin is starting to make the 1894 .44 again and even the JM marked ones are relatively inexpensive.
Really fast follow up, super fun to cycle through the action. Makes short work of watermelons, cabbages, etc. Knocks the hell out of steel plates. I love the top eject.
