Got out to the range with a S&W M29-2 I got off a great Gunnut and I have to say I'm very impressed with it. I loaded mild cowboy loads (6.5 and 8gr of Unique) and they were very accurate. Actually the only gun I shoot better is my Browning Challenger. I had several rounds (25yds) where I had 3 shots touching and then of course I blew the next two but I was still pretty happy. I might hop up the loads a bit for fun and I have a few other powders to try but for now all I can say is if you get a chance to buy a M29 but it! TC

I had an opertunity last weekend to shoot a model 29 as well,,,,it was interesting,,,,now I am thinking of buying one,,,,,I am looking at the Ruger Bisley Hunter,

Here's what you do - load a fairly hot load with 2400 and ask the RO if you can turn out the lights on the range...

Makes for a very impressive show...

Don't ask me how I know this...

first handgun I ever fired was a .44 mag... I was a bit nervous, but I think I handled it pretty well. I even got to keep one of the shells for my collection!

can't wait to get one of my own

The model 29 is a real pussycat to shoot. I used to own a 629, with 6" barrel, now I have a 29-2 with a 4" barrel. Even with the shorter barrel, the accuracy is great. The 4" does jump a bit more than the 6", but no worse than a Glock 20.

First time I ever fired one, I was pretty tense. I was really surprised how easy they shoot, and my first 6 shots went into a 4" group, at about 20 yards. Can't say the same for any other handgun I've owned.

You might hop up the loads a bit for fun?!?!?!

It's called a 44 MAGNUM, not a 44 wimp. Fill the case, top it with a heavy bullet and go shoot.

Like any other calibre I have reloaded, I find that I can get better accuracy with the lighter loads -

However for the shock and awe factor it is the full house for sure !

Recently I let a fellow shoot my Smith and he was soooo nervous - he was visibly shaking - and it was one of my target loads !

- good times -
