44 rem mag

I dont really know anything about reloading but have wanted to take it up , I guess im gonna. that lee loading kit come with every thing neccesary to load 44 ? can i load other calibers with it ?

If you reload I'd reccomend one of the lee kits that have a press. This way all you'll need is dies if you want to load other calibers. Its a great hobby and the savings in ammo covers the cost in no time.

For a 'common' handgun cartridge, .44 mag about the most expensive caliber to shoot. There is no cheap .44 mag factory ammo you can buy, in comparison to the other common calibers.

If you go to Canadian Tire, you will see that while 308 would cost you about $20, you can buy .44 at $14 or $16.... I don't own the gun in .44, so I cannot say for sure, but I remember the figure because I want to by Marlin in that caliber one day... or Ruger semi.

The only "cheap" .44 magnum is that ammo you reload yourself. I reload about 1,000 rds for about $135.00-$140.00 depending where I buy components.

That's not bad. at 25 grains of powder per, that's a little more than 3 jugs. So around a hundred bux just for powder alone. Plus bullets, primers and brass.

Sounds like a reasonable figure to me

You are now comparing a handgun cartridge to a rifle cartridge. I do not think you would pay $14. to $16. for a box of 20 cartridges in any other common handgun caliber. It seems that (because of the price) .44 mag is about the only cartridge you CAN buy a box of 20, the others are usually sold in boxes of 50.

e.g. 9mm, .38 special, .357 mag., .45 auto. I cannot venture a guess on 10mm or .40 S&W since I do not buy them but I would suppose you buy in boxes of 50 as well.
